Slow Cooker Purchase
So I finely made the plunge and purchased a slow cooker. Mind you, I have been looking for a while. I checked out all different brands and sizes ranging from 3 quarts up to 8 quarts. It’s only for 2 people. I do have an 8 quart, but that is way too big for just 2 of use. Sure we are big eaters, but still, it seems to feed an army.
I settled on and purchased a Hamilton Beach model #33155. I purchased it from Walmart.com and delivery is great. I am disabled and have troubles getting around so delivery is a great option.
Now the big decision. . . what to make it in. It’s been here for a couple of days, just sitting on the floor waiting for someone to unpack it. Unpack it I did. Last night. . . and to think I even read the manual that came with it.
So we experimented today. We purchased some kielbasa, which was fully cooked and ready to eat. So with no real recipe, we threw one sliced onion in the bottom, put the sliced kielbasa on top and covered with with some frozen stir fry vegetables. For a soup base we used some instant chicken soup base, a little pork twang and some dehydrated onion for additional flavors.
Well, tell you what – I wish I would of wrote down what all we used and amounts. It turned out excellent. Of course the meat was fully cooked and the veggies were frozen but in about 2-1/2 hours it was fully done when cooked on high. And the soup stock. . . oh to die for. . .
If I make it again, I will be sure to post a recipe. . . Until then, take my word well worth it.
Now, I have to start working on a baked bean recipe for the slow cooker.
Pictures and recipes to follow.
Have a great day folks!
