Barbecue or Sloppy Joe’s

In the Reading and Coal Region Area of Eastern Pennsylvania when a person asks for a Barbecue or BBQ they get what most of the rest country calls Sloppy Joe’s.  Growing up I never knew what a Sloppy Joe was, but I sure knew what a BBQ was since we had them at school at least twice a month.

Mom would also make them often at home.  It was a quick meal to make and feed four of us kids at the time, she sure needed something easy and simple.  And don’t talk about adding sauce from a can.  No way!  No Sloppy Joe sauce in a can in our house. Though in time Mom did cheat and use a bottle of chili sauce as the base and doctored it up.  If I could only doctor up recipes like Mom I would be a fantastic cook.

Follow this recipe and save some money on buying that can.  I mean how hard is it to measure out vinegar, brown sugar, mustard and ketchup.  Why pay the added money for someone else to do it for you.  This way you know exactly what you are getting.

Enjoy
